Habitat for Humanity of Tuscarawas County is a non-profit, Christian based housing ministry. With the goal in mind to eliminate poverty housing conditions in the Tuscarawas Valley, we build simple, decent, and affordable homes in partnership with those in need. Our mission is based on a partnership with the families that are selected to participate.

Habitat houses are not simply a "giveaway". Not only does the family make monetary down payment and monthly mortgage payments, they are also required to put in hundreds of "sweat equilty" hours involving physical labor during construction, as well as other education and training. The education training that they take part in are home maintenance, insurance, and budgeting.

The "sweat equilty" investment, as well as monetary payment, gives the partner family a true sense of pride through home ownership. This is vital to the continued maintenance of the home and allows Habitat to form a supportive relationship with partner families long after the moving day.
